Design Plan & Low Fidelity Prototype

Team 6: Rachel Ogg, David Champlin

Project Target: UM Legislative Update

Part III: Project Management

Provide a plan on how to manage the project over the project duration.

  1. Milestones
    • Week of November 10 – 16
      • Work on getting all preliminary descriptions ready for the hi-fi prototype to be developed. Begin work on building out the first half of the features for the hi-fi prototype.
      • Preliminary work:
      • Describe the functionality and features
Describe the tools, applications, technology used to create the prototype
Provide clear images showing key elements of the final user interface design
Describe what was left unimplemented and why
      • Construction of first features:
      • Redoing the Legislative Update main page to include streamlining of navigation (both top and left side), adding an article index for the current issue, chunking the articles into manageable bits for ease of scanning.
Redesign the layout of the individual article pages to include placing hyperlinks throughout the text to relevant information
    • Week of November 17 – 20
      • Continue work on development of the hi-fi prototype by building out the last half of the features.
      • Construction of final set of features:
      • Develop the “Get Involved” page to include clear navigation for users who wish to pursue additional information concerning an article they’ve read.
Add the “Leave a Comment” feature to the bottom of the articles pages for users to comment and/or “like” an article
Check for accessibility of the comment feature and add in functionality where needed
    • November 21
    • Links to prototype should be posted
    • November 22 – 23
    • Hi-fi peer evaluations
Complete Part I: Evaluation Framework and gather information necessary for performing user observations
    • November 25 – 26
    • Implement changes to prototype based on peer evaluations
    • December 2 – 3
    • Conduct Part II: Observation Process and record results
    • December 4 – 5
    • Begin Part III: Evaluation Results by collecting the data into a summary report
      Begin Part IV: Design Evolution
    • December 6 – 8
    • Complete Part IV: Project Reflections and Recommendations
    • December 9
    • Hi-fi prototype and evaluation report due
