PM Project: Final

Part 4: Seven Powerful Communication Principles

  1. Plan your communication
    • The plan for the project’s communications is to regularly update the stakeholders on changes and approvals for the branding of the company
    • Email will be used regularly to communicate with the client images, links and approvals for the logos, print collateral and website. Using teleconferencing by telephone is preferred by the client so we will regularly scheduled.
    • The principle of the company is the final approval for all materials
    • There is not a great deal of external communications needed at this time.
  2. Remember the basics
    • Remember that the stakeholders live and work in New England.
    • They have a lots of knowledge in commercial real estate for the New England region
    • Use their knowledge and experience to help their branding initiatives
  3. Five C’s of communication
    • Make sure the stakeholders know the the language of design and web design
    • Their time is important so keep it brief and to the point
    • Let them know this is for the future of their company to help it grow and get more business.
  4. Take responsibility for understanding
    • The stakeholders understand using actual conversation is more important to them than using email. They talk to people for a living so make them comfortable talking to the designers and web programmers
  5. Build relationship
    • Never treat the stakeholders like web design or branding is over their heads. They have build a business creating relationships with landlords, other companies and local governments. They probably know more about communications more than us.
  6. Be proactive
    • Make sure they are comfortable having us making their branding.
  7. People and politics
    • Their might be individuals in the stakeholder’s firm that might feel change is bad and new branding is a waste of time and money. Make sure that they are included and know this is important.
